"Featured on the album cut “How to Hate” the synthesizing guru
explains how Weezy pulled a straight up jack move on him after hearing
the song that was originally slated to be a potential cut on T-Pain’s
recently released album,
Revolver.
"The crazy thing is I didn't give it away, he just took it [laughs],"
Teddy P playfully admits. "I made the song, and I was like yo I got to
get Wayne on it, and he was right next door at the same studio so I took
it over there, and he was like yeah just drop it off I'm going to
listen to it in a second.”
Surprisingly after hearing T-Pain's original version of the song the Young Money boss opted to snag the track for his
Carter IV album and made Pain an offer he couldn’t refuse.
The chart-topping entertainer smiles as he recalls how it all went down.
"He had his management come over there, and they was like ‘yo so
Wayne's putting that on his album. Do you want us to keep your verse on
there?’"
With a number of collaborative songs between the pair, as well as a scrapped
T- Wayne
album in the can, the singer says he's far from bothered by the
jacking, and professes that everything's all good between the two. In
fact, he's extremely proud that the song has been received so well by
fans.
"I'm just happy to have a song that got picked up," he explains.
"Either way around it would've benefited either one of us, it really
didn't matter, I don't think it would've helped me sell a million in a week, I mean that's just Wayne."
